Question:Can you please let me know if I can fast if I have to travel 70 miles before zuhr? I will be returning back to my home before maghrib. If dont have to fast what is the ruling for eating food before I travel?

Ayatollah:Sistani

Answer: You cannot fast if the 70 miles travelling is taking you outside of your hometown
You will break your fast when you exit from your hometown (at the boundary or beyond it)
Question:Thank you so much for your above quick reply.
I live in Los Angeles and the fitra declared is $12.
I want to distribute this amount in India.
How is fitra best distributed.. in giving away groceries, or cash and only to shia syed or non -syeds, please let me know

Ayatollah:Sistani

Answer: Fitra must be foodstuffs given to the poor, or the money can be given to any reliable organisation or individual who will ensure that food is bought and given to them.

Fitra from Sadaat can be given to anyone, but Fitra from non Sadaat must not be given to Sadaat.
Question:I have a question about fasts when traveling
If i arrive to my destination before zuhr and leaving that destination on 9th day before zuhr, should i fast and offer regular prayer.
This destination is my 2nd home as i am visiting my kids

Ayatollah:Sistani

Answer: If you consider it your hometown then you must offer full prayers and fast as long as you are there irrespective whether you leave before Zuhr or after.

If when you left home to go to your second hometown you broke your fast in between which is allowed then you would have to do qadha afterwards
Question:Reflecting in perimenopausal effects, can you please let me know if one sees on their expected menstrual cycle days a trace of pinkish onset of periods and then nothing for days— is this still under hayz.
Since that person is approaching menopause periods are irregular like missing few months and then just a slight show Nd then nothing
Would that person consider that to be hays for first 10 days and then light istehaza

Ayatollah:Sistani

Answer: Unless it is haydh blood with the characteristics then it would not be considered haydh

The same thing is mentioned in Tahrirul Wasila of Ayatollah Khomeini with notes of Ayatollah Khamenei .

It is not permissible to tender the Fitrah before the month of Ramadan, rather, according to the more cautious opinion, in all circumstances. Of course, there is no objection in its payment to a poor person and then accounting it for as Fitrah on the arrival of its time.
Question:I have a friend who has a strict sunni family and alhamdulilah has accepted shia islam, she lives with her family and is a student. During this month of Ramadhan, it is very difficult for her to break her fast at Shi’a timings as she is under taqqiya, where possible she breaks it according to our timings however most of the time she cannot. What is the ruling on these fasts that she breaks a little earlier than our timings, are they void? Will she have to make up all of her Ramadhan fasts as this may be difficult.

Ayatollah:Sistani

Answer: If there is a credible threat for her then she is allowed to break it at the earlier time and there’s no qadha.
Question:I wanted to ask whether ghusl or having a shower is sufficient in order to pray salah. Is wudhu still necessary after ghusl/shower or do we still need to do wudhu?

Ayatollah:Sistani

Answer: Wudhu is necessary after shower.

After wajib ghusl is no need for wudhu. Also some mustahab ghusls such as ghusl of Friday, as long as it is done before the time of Jumua prayer.
Question:My question is... is any hijab(such as the turban style hijab) better than no hijab? Is it disrespectful to proper hijab?

Ayatollah:Sistani

Answer: It is necessary to cover everything except face and hands for it be considered hijab.

Anything else would not be considered hijab, therefore we cannot say what is better or worse.
