Question:Sallamun Alaykum, My question to you is, what are your views regarding hijab in the west? Apart from the head covering, do you think women need to wear an abaya (loose black outer covering) or is it OK to wear modest clothes like a long top and jeans? Many have told me that it is a personal choice...but it's so hard to decide. If the Imam was within our contact, he would define this for us, wouldn't he? Your help will be much appreciated.

Ayatollah:Sistani

Answer: wslm wearing proper hijab for a Muslim women in the West should not be a problem. it's your constitutional right to wear what u feel is good for you so long as no one is harmed. having said that: there is no separate hijab for those in the West and other places. hijab is hijab wherever u find yourself.Try as much as you can and Allah will help you. don't get discouraged
Question:Assalamu Alaikom. I have a question regarding the link between Imam Ali (as) and Krishna of the Hindus. I have read hadith saying that Imam Ali (as) said to a Christian Monk that "The Hindus call me Kishen Kishen (Krishna)." It is narrated through Ammar-e Yasir, Jabir bin Abdullah, Malik-e Ashtar and Miqdad Aswad al Kindi. Is this hadith Sahih, meaning Imam Ali (as) and Krishna are the same?

Ayatollah:Reza Hosseini Nassab

Answer: wslm thank you for the question. the above hadith is not authentic. imam Ali and Krishna are not the same.
Question:Sheikh..salaam. Thank you for your response. I am trying what you have suggested. Also, I have tried to dig deep to identify the origin of what makes me break salaat half way..and what causes it. I think I have identified the source. I now will present to you what happens...and you can advise if and when such things happen..is breaking the salaat the solution or does one just continue. Again, I know this may sound absurd. However, I am desperate for help, and I am diagnosing my evils. So what happens: as I told you in my initial message.I might have this impulsive thought of someone being a god. I know its false. I know that is not true. Now in namaaz...im nicely saying prayers..when out of nowhere I might get a thought like this: "you might seek more success worshipping this person x", any my mind makes a reference to person x only because this was the last thing which my mind had created an impulsive thought of God. I do not know from where or how this thought emerges, but I make myself believe that I was the one who made the thought, therefore breaking my namaz as I have committed shirk. Moreover, I break my salaat and start praying all over again with a fresh wuzu. This is the basis of my ills. I am now seeking remedy as I might be a case of 1 in a million or ten million. Please, can you advise if such thoughts present in namaz, do I continue and act as if nothing happened. The problem is being afraid my salaat would be accepted or batil..that is the fundamental bottom line.

Ayatollah:Sistani

Answer: Wslm thanks once again for the question. in that case, u don't have to break your salat. ignore the thought and continue with your salat
Question:On my fast of Mahe Ramzan, I got some mucus between my nose and my throat. My plan was to pull it through my throat and swallow it without letting it into my mouth. But afterwards, somehow , I cough while swallowing it and it came into my mouth(not totally, but some part of the liquid). Then I tried to spit it. When i spat, i.felt like it was in my throat still and not in my mouth. So i continued my plan of swallowing it. But when i swalloed some saliva, i felt like half of the liquid was in my mouths beginning, which(the liquid) was sticked with the other part of it, which was in my throat. But i felt this after i swallowed it. So is my fast invalid and do i need to.pay kaffarah and kaza or something? or is my fast valid?

Ayatollah:Sistani

Answer: Your fast is valid and no need to pray back

Question:one of my friend has become athiest and he gives me such evidences on which behalf i become speechless so i want you to help me to make him understand.

q # 1:
“Religion is a dream, in which our own conceptions and emotions appear to us as separate existences, beings out of ourselves. The religious mind does not distinguish between subjective and objective,– it has no doubts; it has the faculty, not of discerning, other things than itself, but of seeing its own conceptions out of itself as distinct beings. What is in itself, mere theory is to the religious mind a practical belief, a matter of conscience,– a fact. A fact is that which from being an object of the intellect becomes a matter of conscience; a fact is that which one cannot criticise or attack without being guilty of a crime;”
Ludwig Feuerbach -
Essence of Christianity
Q # 2:
Theological evidence doesn’t stand a chance in-front of scientific evidence. Objective proofs based on evidence that can be tested in labs and proved.
Religious claims are mere hypotheses without any kind of physical evidence to back Whereas Science is based on evidence When science doesn’t know anything, she excuses herself and asks for some time until she does some research On the contrary, religion claims to know everything but doesn’t give any proofs?
Q # 3: What about Cosmic Background Radiations? They are the after effects of Big Bang, were recently observed around the world?
What happened before Big Bang, science doesn’t know yet, but she’s working on it. She’s not pretentious as theologies?
Q # 4:
religion is of no use. Religion has attempted to tell us two things,
1- How was the world created.
2- How to live in this world(morality).
For the first query, I take the help of Science
For the second morality question, I take the assistance of Philosophy and Social science?

Ayatollah:Sistani

Answer: 1. Religion is not a dream and this is because dream is an internal existence whereas Religion has an obvious external existence. It practically impacts on people’s life. The essence of religion is to discipline man spiritually and physically since man is made up esoteric and exoteric dimensions. We witness examples of how Religion impacts practicality on people’s life every single day and this made religions forces to reckons with in today’s world and you are telling me is just dream and theory. On the contrary atheism is only in the mind and nothing of it is seen outside.

2. Religion is not limited by space and time and so you cannot limit Religion to only physical things and experiments. What Morden science is proud of were predicted by the Religion years ago such as force of gravity, coupleness in everything, theory of expansion etc. Science is basically trial and luck and so it cannot be compared with Religion. Religion has been tested many times and it has proved to be the way out. Hence you have good number of sciences who are religious.

3. Theologians never pretend. They rather strive to expose us the correct understanding of the nature which the science has failed to do so. Big Bang theory doesn’t stand any chance as it has not yet been proven to be real.

4. The world need an independent Creator who is necessary infinite. Otherwise relying on science and social science doesn’t guarantee harmonisation and cohesion in the world. Scientists themselves have a lot of contradiction amongst themselves. Therefore we cannot absolutely rely on them. Unlike the view the Religion hold on the creation of the world

Question:Can you please explain me kindly for the below Hadith?
He who experiences the month of Ramazan and remains unforgiven has indeed been distanced by Allah.

Prophet Mohammad (PBUH)

Ayatollah:N/a

Answer: The Hadith doesn’t mean you will never be forgiven. If you work hard in the other month, you will also be forgiven although not easy.

It simply means the chances to be forgiven easily in the holy month is very high. Allah’s blessings are unlimited. His doors of mercies are wide opened every second of the holy month. Therefore we should make good use of it
