Question:Wanted to know what is the correct way of reciting salwaat? is it Allahumma swalli a'alaa Muhammadinw-wa aale Muhammad
or
Allahumma swalli a'alaa Muhammad wa aale Muhammad
or
Allahumma swalli a'alaa Muhammadin wa aale Muhammad?

Ayatollah:Sistani

Question:Would like to know that if we are in periods are we allowed to recite the Quran? And can we sit on the prayer mat and recite duas? And which supplications are we allowed to recite? for instance hadise kisa? etc

Ayatollah:Sistani

Answer: Although it is makrooh to touch the Arabic writing of the Qur'an without wudhoo, there is no problem in reciting the Qur'an as long as you are in wudhoo. Sitting on the prayer mat and reciting du'as is actually recommended to do. The best supplications to recite are those that you enjoy and are familiar with: the daily du'as after salaat, the 15 whispered prayers from Sahifa al-Sajjadiyya, Hadith e Kisa, Dua e Kumayl, or any other du'as that you like and that you understand.
Du'as are basically conversations with Allah, and they can be recited in any language - not just Arabic, so in fact the best du'a is that which comes from your own heart, as if you are talking to God. The Ahul Bayt have modelled for us exactly how to ask our du'as: start with Bismillah, then salawat, then praise Allah and tell him how wonderful He is, and how much you appreciate everything that he does for you, and then ask your haajaat, or speak to Him about whatever is on your mind, ending again with praise and salawat.
Question:My question is regarding the nature marriage age. I have been speaking to a woman of 18 years of age and we have been discussing marriage. we have developed feelings for each other and I wanted to approach her parents. However she is concerned they will refuse based on the age difference of 9 years and that she is still in University. What steps can I take to convince them I am a suitable spouse? She has mentioned that her parents are extremely stubborn. Please I would kindly appreciate some advice on this matter.

Ayatollah:Sistani

Answer: Your idea of approaching her parents is sensible, and would be the best course of action before the relationship develops any further. That in itself will demonstrate your maturity and serious intention to marry her with her parents' blessings.
Secondly it is important to focus on and highlight the qualities that would make you a suitable spouse for their daughter, so that age is not the only factor. Things such as: piety, good conduct, ability to support and provide for her, stability and maturity, good relationships with your own family members, and perhaps that you would let her continue her studies at university and beyond and support her through all that. Perhaps it would be wise to showcase the benefits of marrying somebody older rather than someone her own age, since girls naturally mature faster than boys, and many people under the age of 25 that are her contemporaries may not be able to provide for her, support her, and bring a mature, stable grounding to the marriage.
It would also help to have people vouch for your piety, good character and integrity.
