1)A friend of mine recently said that Prophet Muhammad had stoned a man to death for raping. Is this true as per shia history? And otherwise also, is this in the history of sunni belief that Prophet did such act?
2) As per shia islamic law, What should be the punishment that should be given to a man proved for rape and murder of a women?

1) It may be in sunni texts but in the Quran we don’t find the mention of stoning as a punishment.
2) Such hudood punishments can only be carried out by Imam e Masoom (as) therefore are out of the question in our time. We are therefore obliged to follow the law of the land we are living in.
