I work for a bank in a Non-Muslim country and my job is to manage and enhance and support a system which people use to apply for car loans. This company receives most of its income from interest charged on it’s loans but also do receive a halal portion of money such as administration and closure fees.
95-96% of the customers who repay the loans and the interest charges are non-muslims so previously I have been advised that because of the customer base being primarily Non-Muslim and because its permissible to take interest from Non-Muslim then my income is permissible.
Can you please confirm if this is correct or not? Can I consider my income is halal?
In general, working with usurious transactions is not allowed. In this case, you are only working as a “middle man” between two non-Muslim entities. Thus there should be no problem in it. Your earning is halal
