If my older son (4 years) hits his younger brother (1 years) and I cause him fear telling him he hurt his brother is that fine? Is there a better way that can be taught from the lives of the Ahlul Bayt when teaching a young child to be kind to others?

That is fine. You have to discipline him with out harming him.
