Me and my friend have recently started a project on Instagram as a platform that serves to talk about female personas in Islam, issues we face as well as highlighting current shia ladies that are expressing the love of their religion through art and poetry and from all walks of life. We want to do a post on what women can and cannot recite or read during their periods and what’s the best way stay spiritual during the week of periods and what to do during nights of ammal

When a woman is in the state of haydh, it is mustahab for her to do wudhu, sit on the prayer mat and recite zikr. This wudhu however does not allow her to touch the writing of the Qur'an. In regards to reciting duas and Quran, there is no problem. If it is said that it is makrooh to recite the Qur'an, it means the rewards are less. However the wajib sajda verses of the Qur'an should not be recited.
