Often the potential person or their families spend months before expressing if they’re serious about the proposal/match and even delay giving their rejection until they’ve found someone better. This is ok when one’s young but at an older age it is not a luxury to afford.

Hence I want to know if it is permissible to speak to other people while speaking to one and from what point does it become impermissible? Taking into consideration no formal vow or words have been exchanged that there will be exclusive consideration.

There is no objection per se since no marriage has taken place. The only aspect to pay heed to is not engaging in conversation that is not permissible.
