Sayed Sistani says one should not disobey the laws of the land but he also says that you can use cracked apps of someone else has cracked them.

He also says that we can’t sell pirated material but we can make personal use of them.

I am very confused, is pirating movies and software permissible for someone living in the west?

We only intend to use them for personal use and we are not the ones to steal them, we just download from websites

You can use it but don’t sell it. If using it is considered breaking the law and it can get you in trouble than don’t use it either.
