We have been advised all our lives that obeying our parents is the ultimate responsibility of children. Please advise what are its limitations and how far does it apply to? As it does not make sense for children who are baligh, who is married and his decisions affect his own family (wife) where many of the opinions come from cultural values and are affecting our family life. Is the man able to take decisions for himself and his family even if his parents do not agree with it? What are its limitations?

Well he should not make decisions that hurt his parents. It doesn’t mean however that he has to agree with them or do whatever they say but rather respectfully disagree trying not to hurt them if possible
