At what point do people understand that the world is not without suffering?
Allah will take you to the border of hopelessness
He pushes the test to its limits, but the solution is solely with him, so we keep a firm grip. The nature of this life is to have problems and issues. We always hear people complain about their issues, and portray false lives on social media.
إِنَّهُ لاَ يَيْأَسُ مِن رَّوْحِ اللّهِ إِلاَّ الْقَوْمُ الْكَافِرُونَ عَلِيمٌ
[12:87] surely none despairs of Allah's mercy except the unbelieving people.
Despair is the opposite of hope; despair is qunoot and end of hope in the mercy of ALLAH
The disbeliever’s thoughts and beliefs are all based upon cause and effect, physical laws govern all.
They don’t believe in God’s will and ability
The physical laws pertain to us, he transcends all of this.
This is essential in belief.
Sometimes our despairing state is a result of a known thing, like if a person has an illness and is afraid it becomes greater.
Sometimes a person is in fear and does not know why
What causes this?
Fear, we are naturally afraid of everything, and everyone tells us the worst.
إِنَّ الْإِنسَانَ خُلِقَ هَلُوعًا
Indeed, mankind was created anxious:
Mankind of today are the most anxious, the most fearful and the most despondent of all time.
They live in the age of technology
Widespread illness the many strands of influenza, AIDS, Ebola, SARS, Zika and now COVID-19
Potential wars all around you, the situation brewing in the Persian Gulf.
One person every 40 seconds commits suicide; and approximately one person every 2 seconds is attempting suicide.
يَحْسَبُونَ كُلَّ صَيْحَةٍ عَلَيْهِمْ
Paranoia
How do I cure this?
Reliance on Allah because I need to believe that although all the observable and material causes are before me, I need that unseen factor to make things happen.
An individual upon encountering a problem automatically feels it is the end of the road.
إِن مَّسَّهُ الشَّرُّ فَيَئُوسٌ قَنُوطٌ
[41:49] if evil touches him, he is hopeless and despairing.
Blessings followed by affliction
When person loses a blessing they lose their minds
وَلَئِنْ أَذَقْنَا الْإِنسَانَ مِنَّا رَحْمَةً ثُمَّ نَزَعْنَاهَا مِنْهُ إِنَّهُ لَيَئُوسٌ كَفُورٌ
[11:9] and if we give man a taste of mercy from us and then we withdraw it from him, indeed, he is despairing and ungrateful.
Prophet Ayoub
وَأَيُّوبَ إِذْ نَادَىٰ رَبَّهُ أَنِّي مَسَّنِيَ الضُّرُّ وَأَنتَ أَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِينَ
[21:83] and [mention] Job, when he called to his Lord, "Indeed, adversity has touched me, and you are the Most Merciful of the merciful."
Allah improved his situation after a long trial.
سَيَجْعَلُ اللَّهُ بَعْدَ عُسْرٍ يُسْرًا
[65:7] Allah will bring about, after hardship, ease.
The believer in the worst situations should fill their heart with hope.
Fire burns in normal physical laws –
Ibrahim and the fire, when he was launched into the huge blaze, the Angels offered him help
حَسْبِي مِنْ سُؤَالِي عِلْمُهُ بِحَالِي
Only Allah
قُلْنَا يَا نَارُ كُونِي بَرْدًا وَسَلَامًا عَلَىٰ إِبْرَاهِيمَ
Creation without cause
Adam and Issa
Story of Ibrahim and Zachariah and having a child at an old age
Ibrahim and his wife were aged between the 90’s to 100 plus
إِنَّا نُبَشِّرُكَ بِغُلَامٍ عَلِيمٍ قَالَ أَبَشَّرْتُمُونِي عَلَىٰ أَن مَّسَّنِيَ الْكِبَرُ فَبِمَ تُبَشِّرُونَ قَالُوا بَشَّرْنَاكَ بِالْحَقِّ فَلَا تَكُن مِّنَ الْقَانِطِينَ قَالَ وَمَن يَقْنَطُ مِن رَّحْمَةِ رَبِّهِ إِلَّا الضَّالُّونَ
[15:53-56] surely we give you the good news of a boy, possessing knowledge. He said: Do you give me good news (of a son) when old age has come upon me? — Of what then do you give me good news! They said: We give you good news with truth, therefore be not of the despairing. He said, "And who despairs of the mercy of his Lord except for those astray?"
Likewise with the case of Zachariah
Many a times we see that people – who have no means whatsoever – are able to get rid of their afflictions and distress.
Due to the grace of Sadaqah, incurable diseases are cured and destitute become rich
People surrounded by calamities are saved in ways they could not have even imagined.
The Lord works in mysterious ways, the hidden benevolence of God.
Different people are tested differently, your trial is immense. But your solution is with Allah alone, whether you submit to this or not. This is the case.
