Ayatollah:N/A

Question:I was wondering, let say we perform any wrongdoing it will be count against us but example if we go to buy 10 pcs of something priced $1 and after giving to the cashier, he miss counted as 9pcs and we pay $9 eventhough he put everything in a pack and we count as 10. Ignoring this situation of him miss counting the item and we pay less, are we wrong of not correctly pay him?

Ayatollah:N/A

Answer: If you were the seller, do you accept that the buyer whom you gave more money, take the money?
I am sure you do not, because you will pay it from your pocket.
Hence, it is haram.
You have to pay the money back to the seller, even if you were in a non Muslim country, because you will effect the image of Islam.
Question:I would like to ask, can you touch the alam or taboot while women are on periods?

Ayatollah:Sistani

Answer: No problem, provided that there are no Qur'an verses or names of Allah are touched.

Question:I came to know if the passing of a very pious 86 year old woman. She missed her fast for the pregnancy of her 9 children. During her lifetime, she kept all her other fast and prayers and also completed her deceased husband’s qaza fasts ( I know that’s not her responsibility, but still.) I have 2 questions.
1) Can you keep fast for another person when you have your own khaza fasts?
2) What are her kids to do now? That would be 270 fasts.
I assume she had a misunderstanding about the make up fast, but who knows now? How should this family proceed?

Ayatollah:Sistani

Answer: 1- No. Except if it became compulsory upon you, like if you were the oldest male son of your father, and he passed with missed fasts.
In such case, you have the choice, either to makeup your own fasts first, or your father's.
2- They do not have to do any thing. However, it is recommended that they makeup the missed fasts on her behalf, or to hire someone to do so.
Question:I was wondering why the father’s namaz and fasting is wajib to make up and the moms is not. Even though the mother probably missed majority of her faces due to pregnancy. Whereas an average healthy male has no valid reason to miss fasts. It’s hard for me to wrap my head around this as Islam has such a high value for women and specifically mothers. If you could kindly explain or point me to some books so that I can understand this better, I would appreciate it.

Ayatollah:Sistani

Answer: When something is wajib, you have to do it, otherwise you are punished, while when you do the recommended thing, your grade is much higher. Please note that Allah SWT praised the people who are praying Tahajjud more than the people who are just praying the 5 prayers.
Hence, when the son makes up mother's prayers, he is rewarded more by Allah SWT. On the other hand, making up father's prayers and fasts are the duty of the oldest son only, because he inherits certain items of father belongings, above his share of inheritance.
