Question:Does marijuana invalidate ones prayers for 40 days like alcohol?

Ayatollah:Sistani

Answer: No. But it is haram.
Question:How should a dead body be given ghusl or tayammum if parts of body where tayammum are not available. Example, a dead body without any head, hands and legs and water cannot be used due to bad condition.

Ayatollah:Sistani

Answer: If all tayammum parts are missing, then the body could be buried as it is.
Question:Is there any requirement, by way of recommended precaution or otherwise, to remove the pubic hair of the corpse during ghusl? This system, which prima facie looks unnecessary, has become prevalent in the womenfolk of northern parts of India. Is this practice mashru, makrooh or haraam?

Ayatollah:Sistani

Answer: It is not recommended (Makrooh) to do so, and if was done, the removed hair should be buried with him.
Question:Can the sadaqah of Imam e Asr atfs be given to needy people from the Ahlul Sunnah?

Ayatollah:Sistani

Answer: If it is a sadaqa you are paying on behalf of Imam, then yes.
Question:Here in India, some grandparents/parents write in a will about the marriage of their (grand)children in their death will. Is it correct to force one's decision before death on children on issues as serious as marriage? Do such wills hold any value in the eyes of Shariah, according to Ayatullah Sistani?

Ayatollah:Sistani

Answer: It has no meaning or effect.
Question:There are 2 real brothers X and Y. Y had adopted the daughter of X during the life of their father through mutual consent of both these brothers and their father. It is now the time to marry this adopted girl and the two brothers developed family feud and are totally opposed to each other to the point of animosity. As an authorised representative (waqeel) of Ayatullah Sistani, please advise as to whose permission is now necessary to get the girl married - X (the real father) or Y (her uncle and adoptive father)? Can X claim her daughter back at this point and take care of her marriage alone?

Ayatollah:Sistani

Answer: Adoption is not accepted in Islam, and it is void (The adoption which is permissible is not real adoption, it is only a custody.)
The permission has to be taken from the father (X), and he can take his daughter, as his brother has no rights at all, even if the father died, in which case, the daughter can marry her self without referral to the uncle.
Question:While it is established that jamaat is better than individual prayers, I wish to seek your guidance for a crucial issue of praying in prime time.

By the taufeeq of Allah s.w.t, I have been able to perform my 5 daily prayers during their individual prime time windows for quite some time now. During afternoon, I usually come home from office for lunch so that I can perform jamaat with my wife and other relatives. However, my wife cooks food and reaches a level of anxiety due to hunger pangs and requests me to have food first and then pray together. I pay heed to her since I wish to earn the benefit of jamaat but within the prime time windows (zuhr and asr together however) and also not to miss khushu and khuzu in namaz due to hunger. The same happens during evening when I return home. My question is whether it is acceptable to delay prayers for all of these considered together:

1. Eating food

2. Still praying in fazeelat time

3. Taking benefit of jamaat prayers

Ayatollah:Sistani

Answer: There is no problem in such short delay, as long the prayer falls in fadheela period, and makes you more present in the prayer.
Question:Can we take milk from a hindu milkman, which is used for preparing beverages like tea, coffee and is also converted into ghee (clarified butter) through excessive heating?

Ayatollah:Sistani

Answer: If you didn’t see him touching it with naked hands, then it is clean (Taher)
