Question:Is lip balm that you put on your dry lips a barrier for water during ghusul? I put some on my lips around 40 minutes before doing ghusul. I didn't think much about it until after doing the ghusul.

If it is considered a barrier during ghusul, is it enough if I washed my lips carefully afterwards with the intention of it being part of my ghusul or do I have to redo my ghusul completely?

Ayatollah:Sistani

Answer: I can not judge this.
You are the only person who can judge it.
If it has a layer that isolates the water from the lips, then you have to wipe it before performing Ghusl.
You also have to do so, if you are in doubt.
Any how, if it is, then only washing the lips is not sufficient. You have to wash the entire body after washing the lips.
Question:My wife was told to do the taqlid of Syed Sistani being told he is easy, but never really researched his rulings or never really follows him but after marriage I told her to do taqlid and I her husband am in the taqlid of Syed Khamenai, can she change her taqlid to syed khamenai given she never really followed syed Sistani in the first place

Ayatollah:Sistani

Answer: Taqleed is based on following the most knowledgeable mujtahid, not for being easy.
It is not necessary that both couple follow the same mujtahid.
Question:If we are sleeping alone at night and if we find our undergarment wet in the morning, may be because of shaytaani waswasa,
1) How do we perform Ghusl, what should be our niyat?
Ghusl e Janabat or something else?

2) How do we make the clothes paak? Can we put them in the washing machine?

Ayatollah:Sistani

Answer: 1- Semen is recognizable, as it is thick and sticky. Hence, if it is not like that, then probably it is not semen, so, you do not need to perform ghusl. However, if you are in doubt, and you want to perform ghusl, then you need to perform ablution as well. The intention in both cases is ghusl Janaba. The difference is that in the first case, you don’t need to perform ablution with ghusl, while you have to perform it in the second case.

2- If the washing machine washes two times with pure water, with spinning in between, then it is OK.
Question:We see many people shake their body while doing tasbeeh, or reading quran, or even reading any dua. Is it ok shaking body? I know we need to be still while performing namaz.

Ayatollah:Sistani

Answer: It is a habit, and has nothing in shareea'a.
Any how. It is not forbidden.
Question:Nowadays there many types of different haircuts. Can we have a trendy hair cut like short sides long hairs in the middle or we should grow our hairs in equal size?

Ayatollah:Khamenei

Answer: This type of hair cut is makrooh (not recommended)
Question:I sleep early with the intention to get up early for fajr so when I sleep I get bad images of opposite gender while I close my eyes and it continuously comes in my mind so I open my eyes often and it gets late to sleep and tough to get up in the morning.

Ayatollah:Khamenei

Answer: When you go to bed, try to take a book with you to read. Any book. Start reading after all the recommended zikr (Shahadt, Ayat Al Kurssi, 3 times surat Tawheed and Tasbeeh Bibi Zahra).
You will sleep without any problems.
Question:Does a person need to do ghusl if they urinate on themselves when sleeping?

Ayatollah:Khamenei

Answer: No. You just need to wash the effected area.

In fact, if you did ghusl, the ghusl has no effect, and you have to perform ablution for prayer, and if you did not, the prayer is void.
Question:If there is no reason to do ghusl for a Muslim, such as in the possible case there is semen discharge or sexual intercourse. How often should one do ghusl to keep clean? How long could go without ghusl if they don't discharge semen or have sexual intercourse for a long time?

Ayatollah:Khamenei

Answer: Ghusl as ghusl is required only if there is a cause, such as discharge of semen, or sexual intercourse...etc.
If there is no reason for ghusl, then there is no meaning for ghusl. However, you can have a shower any number of time a day, but you have to perform wodu (abalution) to be able to pray.
