Question:Since becoming Shia I have had a bit of difficulty eating zabihah meat. I am college student, and my parents do not eat zabihah so our meals are not made of zabihah food. I try to avoid eating the meat as much as I can, but I do not want to displease my parents by not eating with them. How should I deal with such a matter as eating zabihah is something which we must do?

Ayatollah:Sistani

Answer: If they know you’re Muslim, try to explain the rules and that it’s strictly forbidden for you to eat meat which is not zabiha

If they don’t know your Muslim and you need to conceal it for a reason, perhaps consider not eating meat at all or becoming vegetarian as eating non-zabiha regularly is a sin and has negative impacts on your soul and manners
Question:There is a person I know, he is Shia, follows the everything just the way we do including wilaayah, believing in 12 imams, practicing Muharram and etc. There is no difference whatsoever just apart from the fact that they dont do “Taqleed” of a particular marj’ah.
Their community does have a leader however, who is a direct descendant of Imam Jaffar as Sadiq (a.s), who guides them just the way a marj’ah guides us. The way we call ourselves Ithnaasheri their title is Mashayakhi. It's nothing like the Ismaeelis or Bohras. The only difference is they dont do taqleed.
However I read from the app iSistani regarding taqleed of a mujtahed. It said that Taqleed means to follow and Mujtahed is a knowledgeable leader that a community or person can follow and ask advice from regarding Islam and its practices.
What are your views on this? Is it right? And would it be permissible to marry in this community? And after marriage what should be the conditions for the children? As the child gets the title of his Father.

Ayatollah:Sistani

Answer: I understand that such groups exist.

With respect, we believe taqlid of the most knowledgeable mujtahid is necessary and a must. This is the teachings of our ulema. Although we respect others who don’t follow this, we disagree with them. Marrying into such community is permissible
Question:I’ve often heard the phrase “Halal and Haram music” .. which means there is a type of Halal music that we can listen to. Can you please explain how to differentiate between Halal and Haram music

Ayatollah:Sistani

Answer: Music that is permissible is the music that does not entail entertainment in gatherings held for that purpose. Forbidden music is the music that is suitable for entertainment and amusement gatherings.

Question:I have seen that many people use images from google, other websites, etc in order to make majlis invites, etc. These images available online have copyrights on them. However, is it permissible to use them, without taking permission from the owner, if we are using them to make majlis invites, i.e, personal use of them

Ayatollah:Sistani

Answer: Regarding your question specifically, and as the internet is usually common usage for people, there is no problem in using the image for general material, but perhaps seeking permission is better out of precaution, and Allah knows best
Question:Saalam, I have 3 questions: Ïnshallah I hope you will answer them .

1) After the Battle of Kerbala, some say that the wife of Imam Hossein (s) went to Iran were she hidden herself in a cave. From there on no one every so her. So my question is : If this narration is authentic, then why did she do that? and so she died there as well?

2) There are some shrines of the daughters of Imam Ali (s) and other Imams (s) , but the problem is some say for example that Rukhayya his (Imam Ali (s) ) daughter’s grave is in Pakistan while others say that 7th Imams daughters grave is also in Pakistan? And yes one more, the wife of Muslim bin Aqeel’s grave is also in Pakistan. If this is true, how on earth did the land in Pakistan? If not, where is the real graves of the daughters the Imams (s)?

3) What was the philosophy behind 10th Imam’s choice for naming her daughter Ai’sha?

Ayatollah:Sistani

Answer:
1. I have not come across this, and I have studied lives of the wives of Imam Hussain in detail. I would like to see evidence of this claim

2. Again it is not something established. These maybe descendants of Imams several generations

3. It is not proven that Imam Hadi named his daughter as such
Question:Our Khums date used to be the 11th of Dhul Qadah but then because the Islamic dates kept changing around we decided to follow the Gregorian calendar and set our Khums date as the 15th of August. So do we have to start counting all the income we have left over from maghrib time on the 14th or do we start counting what we have left from 00.01am on 15th August?
It’s just that we wanted to buy a wardrobe today (14th August) before maghrib but now it’s maghrib already so we were just wondering that the money we use to buy the wardrobe after maghrib, is Khums wajib on that money?

Ayatollah:Sistani

Answer:
It would be from 12am 15th August
Question:I'm studying a medical degree so in my skills class where we have to medically examine each other (not intimately just like hands and arms and face and legs from knee downwards) there’s 2 Muslim boys, 1 white girl and 2 Hindu/Sikh girls.
Last week I worked with the white girl and a Sikh girl and because of the hand gel we use and touch each other while our hands are still wet plus natural human sweat, I got completely najis and so did my stethoscope. There was a stethoscope we had to share and I was unsure of which one to put in my ear because I wasn’t sure which side the Sikh girl had used so I gave myself the benefit of the doubt.
Basically it was manic trying to stay paak.

And this week because I was examining a patient towards the end, the two Sikhs and the white girl paired up so I began examining the Muslim guys and they examined me (hands, arms and face).

So what is it better to do? Get examined by a girl and get Najis or get examined by a guy who’s not your mahram?

Ayatollah:Sistani

Answer: It is not permissible to be examined by a non mahrem for learning purposes usually. Therefore you should avoid this as much as possible, unless it causes you unbearable difficulty
As for the other situation, try your best to clean whatever has become najis as much as you can, but don’t be pedantic about it, and if you don’t know if something has come in touch with wet hands for eg assume it’s Tahir.
Question:Is there are rule in islam that it is compulsory to make a partition in the hair style ?
