Question:My question is regarding financial investments. Are we in the west allowed to buy shares in banks? Would the fact that we become part owners for the bank constitute any income as haram given these banks charge interest to customers?

Question:I am wondering if the husband is allowed to impose the likes and dislikes of his parents on his wife and claiming that it makes him happy if she follows it. If the wife decides not to adhere to that decision knowing that he is asking her to please his parents, is it okay for her to refuse the request/decision? or religiously she has to do adhere to it?

Ayatollah:Agha sistani

Answer: Such imposing is not correct however there has to be an understanding between the couple and compromise so that the relationship flourishes and strengthens. Each has needs and so both need to sacrifice and compromise for the other, on issues that are not core or fundamental such as faith.
Question:During the lockdown, the government has advised citizens not to visit friends and family if they do not live with us as part of social distancing measures enforced. However, I am concerned about my mother who does not reside with me and my father has passed away. I feel she is in a vulnerable group and may get anxiety from time to time. Every once in a while, she would like me to visit her. Is it permissible to travel to visit her? I am not too concerned with the other people that live with her such as my siblings. If I can visit, how much precaution should I take. Can I take other members of my household to visit her such as my children, wife etc.

Ayatollah:lockdown

Answer: You should try to keep in touch remotely and not visit since it may endanger her life. This decision is difficult but ulema have instructed us to abide by law of the land as much as possible. If she is in real need and you must see her to save her life for eg then there maybe an exception
Ofcourse if you live in that house too with her it’s ok according to the law.
Question:What constitutes an enemy of Islam/Allah, or a non believer. I always imagine our Prophets and Imams, our role models, being soft hearted, patient people. Yet we are instructed not to be apparenty? If you can shed light on this issue i'd greatly appreciate it.

Ayatollah:Sistani

Answer: It depends on the situation and environment
Sometimes Taqiyya needs to be practised to save life
Sometimes in a battlefield we need to fight
Other times we might need to use intellect wisely and act accordingly under advice of ulema.
Question:I can’t find in Europe any way to buy Fayrouza and aqiq rings coming from the holy shrines.
If I find rings with those stones but not coming from the holy sites, do they have the same spiritual value please ?
Otherwise do you know any reliable websites selling those stoned rings in Europe ?

Ayatollah:Khamenei

Answer: If it’s a genuine stone ring then it doesn’t matter where you purchase it from

Question:Wondering if we were allowed to keep socks during prayers?
Also during those sad times, do you know if it exists some websites where sheikh lead the jumuaa prayers online ? And if yes is it allowed to follow jumuaa online from home ?

Ayatollah:Khamenei

Answer: There is no problem in keeping socks on in salah (not allowed in Wudhu though)
Salah cannot be performed online under Shi’a fiqh whatsoever. This applies to congregational prayer too.
Question:What is the ruling on someone who makes an intention to fast and sleeps and wakes up in the morning having realised he has had a wet dream. This person unfortunately had a wet dream before the time of fajr prayer and didn't get up to do ghusul and also didn't pray fajr.

Considering this is a recommendated fast, will his fast be valid or invalid.

Ayatollah:ayatollah

Answer: Yes the fast is valid.
Question:My question is regarding the rule of namaz ayat. I know that I have to pray namaz ayat when there is a solar and lunar eclipse but I was wondering what is the rule for thunder and lightning. Is it obligatory to pray this namaz when there is thunder and lightning.

Ayatollah:ayatollah sistani

Answer: If it is to extent that causes you fear then yes you should pray.
Question:I’ve got an issue with regarding to my prayer, as we know, prayer should be in a moderate speed, not rushing, however when I’m working I find it difficult to pray at that speed, and I have to shorten my prayer. But the problem is, how do I shorten my prayer but at the same time be accepted in front of Allah(S.W.T). Can you please tell another alternative of prayer that I can quickly fit in during my working hours?

Ayatollah:Sistani

Answer: You should not shorten prayers and do it as an acceptable speed. It could be Shaitan who is encouraging you to speed.
Say the istiadha and seek protection from Shaitan.
Question:In Surah 4:157, Allah mentions that Jesus Crucifixion was made to appear to the Jews, however, I have been researching online in regards to this verse and who was that Allah made to appear to the Jews in resemblance of Jesus, and I came across three situations or opinions as to what happened:

A. Some say that it was Judas.
B. Others say it was one of Jesus’ disciples.
C. Still others say that it was a Roman soldier named Titawus."

I’m completely confused on which one I should believe, and I was hoping that you could help me find the right answer, because my Christian friend is trying to prove to me the crucifixion and I brought this argument up is that it was Judas Iscariot was on the cross, but he replied as to saying that Judas hanged himself due to the guilt of betraying Jesus and therefore committed suicide whereas in a Shia Movie of Jesus made by Iranian producers it shows that Judas was the one crucified, I hope you can answer my question so that I can bring my Christian friend to the path of Islam, the path of Ahlulbayt.

Ayatollah:Sistani

Answer: Yes it’s most likely Judas
