Question:I have a question regarding Ziyarat of Kerbala and Visitation of Parents.
I currently reside in Toronto and make a point to visit my parents in Tanzania every 12 to 18 months. I have a wish to visit Kerbala, a privilege I have not yet had. I only have enough money to either visit my parents or to go for ziyarat of Imam Husayn (as). I would like to seek your kind advise for my dilemma.

Ayatollah:Sistani

Answer: Both are important. My humble advise is that: speak to your parent that you would love to visit Imam husein in a year and that you will not be able to visit them physically. They should be fine. You will make Dua for them during the visit and that itself is rewarding.
Question:I have been having trouble with my sense of gender identity which is causing gender dysphoria in me. Gender dysphoria can be described as psychological distress with the gender someone is born with. Both my therapist and psychiatrist have acknowledged this issue. Although I do not intend on doing medical procedures for this issue, I have referred myself as a female despite being born male to lessen this psychological distress.

I want to be within the guidelines of the shariah and do not want to transgress any boundaries I have with Allah.

What would be the most Islamically acceptable way to approach this issue?

Could I present as a feminine male but ask people to refer me as female? If I tell people that I am male, I feel psychologically distressed. At the same time, I want to be within the boundaries of the shariah.

Please give me insight

Ayatollah:Khamenei

Answer: The first procedure is for you to be psychologically tested and examined by the medical experts. This will then determine the next step with the Shariah boundary.

Question:I am reading the English translation of the Quran and a verse troubles me, as I am unsure of its meaning. By the Will of Allah, could you explain verse 26, where Allah uses the example of a gnat?

“God does not shy away from making an example of a gnat, or something above it. As for those who believe, they know that it is the Truth from their Lord. But as for those who disbelieve, they say, "What did God intend by this example?" He leads astray many thereby, and He guides many thereby; but He misleads thereby only the evildoers.”

Ayatollah:N/A

Answer: Baqara 26 highlights on how Allah give examples from smallest creatures to biggest for the purpose of reflection and understanding. It’s to say look at the creation of something small as gnat and take example from it. Gnat is like a fly.

Question:I have been saving for the past year for house renovations and now reached my goal. My house renovation will start in April 2020 but my date for khums is end of March.

Do I still need to pay khums on this amount? If I do pay khums on this amount means I will have to ask elsewhere such as lending or from a bank to make up the remaining amount which I really don’t want to do.

Please advise

Ayatollah:Sistani

Answer: There will be no khums so long as the savings is specifically for the house which definitely need for yourself and your family.
