Question:I have got a question in regards to Surah 69:17, it states that “eight of them” shall hold the throne. In some Shi’a traditions, some say it is the four prophets from the past that will hold it -Noah, Abraham,Moses and Jesus. And the later generations- Prophet Muhammed, Imam Ali and his sons Hasan and Hussain. However I’m not convinced enough or certain enough for this to be true as the Quran says it’s specifically directing towards the angels. So how can I truly understand this verse and what is correct interpretation of this verse?

Ayatollah:Sistani

Answer: The verse refers to angles according to our great commentators of the Quran.
Question:I ran across Surah Nisa verse 79. Can you elaborate on what Allah swt means when he says all bad is from us. I tried looking up the tafseer on al-Islam.org but they spoke minimally. I don’t think all bad things are from us personally. I feel there are circumstances that are truly out of our hands. Can you elaborate on this ayat?

Ayatollah:Fadhlallah

Answer: You will not be hold responsible if situation is out of control.

Let’s come to the verse:

The verse discusses our choices and how we exercise it.

We have desire, intellect and imagination.

Using our freewill well is equal to Good
Using our freewill wrongly is equal to bad

Our choice determines the outcome of what we do.
