Question:I wish to know what it means to be a believer. How can I calm this fire raging within me? How can I be at peace? How can I keep myself away from fading in this worldliness? Though believing in the unseen is the key, how does one find this path that he's supposed to walk on ? What is this path that we're supposed to walk on?

Ayatollah:N/A

Answer: In general, if a person acts upon what she/he knows, they will be successful. A person knows the haraam and halal of Allah and hence should be careful and attentive to them. One should act upon the waajibaat. A person is also prone to making mistakes in which case he should ask for forgiveness and should not have this expectation of themselves to reach the status of the Prophets today. It's not possible because the advancement of a person is gradual hence one should continue to strive and ask for help from Allah and through intercession, insha'Allah the situation will be get better. No one can claim that they are perfect believers. The advancement of a person is such that however much they strive, there is always room for improvement. What is important is that a person keeps to the path.

Also know that Shaytan whispers to throw a person off track by making them hopeless. Be careful of these whispers and don't become hopeless on this path.

If you're looking for laws with its proofs from the Qur'an and Hadith, then duroos Al tamhidiyya fi Fiqh Al istidlaliya by Sheikh Irawani. Question:1) If a woman is past 65 ( one is 68 and the other is 78), is it still required for her to fast this Ramadan despite the fact that it could impact their immune system and they are already in the compromised age for covid 19?

2) If the above mentioned ladies don’t keep fast due to the fact that they feel at risk, would it be required for them to make up the fasts at a later time. They say that’s a huge factor in all this.

Ayatollah:Sistani

Answer: 1) It is upon the person themselves to determine whether fasting will have a negative effect on their health. Hence if there is a good possibility that by fasting, the person will fall ill then fasting is not wajib however if that probability is weak, then they have to fast.
It is upon the person themselves to assess their situation and act according to the rule above

2) If the person fasting gives a strong probability that fasting will cause them to get sick then they should not fast and if they fast and get sick because of fasting, then the fast is problematic and qadha has to be done (if they have the strength to do qadha). If not done, then in addition to qadha fidya (750 grams of food) should be given to a poor person for every missed fast
