Question:As a new mum could you help me clear some queries: the whole Pak thing is getting overwhelming for me
a) How do I make the mattress and sheets Pak for an infant who is four months old and is exclusively formula fed
b) Are wipes sufficient in making an infant clean after diaper changes

Ayatollah:Sistani

Answer: a) Sheets which have been soiled with urine will be made paak if washed with qalil water twice or with kurr water twice. The ruling on kurr water being used twice is based on obligatory precaution hence you can follow another marja such as Ayatullah Wahid Khurasani who says washing with kurr water once will suffice.
b) As for using a wet wipes, it does not make anything Pak. Since the child does not have to pray namaz or do anything that requires taharat, there is no problem if the area is not made paak
Question:I had some queries regarding my four month old. Since he is on exclusive formula fed, I guess I have to follow the same rules as adults for taharat from urine that is wash once with Kurr water except in the case of body and clothes. Wanted to know does clothes include other forms of materials like sheets/towels/baby blankets and wraps etc or just one wash is sufficient since they are materials but not used as a means of clothing?
Also as for gifts received by toddlers especially cash, how do I utilise it for the little one? How about those gifts that he has outgrown? Can we sell them and use the cash for his other needs or rather can we give it to charity? Since it belongs to the child how about do I go with it?

Ayatollah:Sistani

Answer: Everything that becomes najis with urine, washing it once is enough. As per Ayatullah Sistani, washing it the second time is based on ihtiyat e wajib (obligatory precaution) however you can refer to Ayatullah Khamenei and other maraje who say washing it once is enough.

In regards to gifts given to the child, under the supervision of the father, it can be used for the child or in any other way you see fit so you can sell it or whatever else you find best
Question:Regarding taharat during haiz, can I take a bath during haiz in order to remain clean and fresh?

Ayatollah:Sistani

Answer: Yes you can.
Question:If unintentionally I had washed one of my impure clothes with other pure clothes of my family members, are they also now became impure?

Ayatollah:Sistani

Answer: All the clothes would have been washed with water. Hence if the other clothes became najis, when they were washed with water, they would have become paak.
Question:I am married and i know the fact that it is haram for a couple to mate during haalat e hayz however I wanted to ask that if my husband comes near and without having intercourse if there comes drop of semen on my body then what is the masael for ghusl. Secondly, when I am not in hayz and in normal condition then without intercourse if a drop or some more amount of semen falls on my body then is ghusl janabat wajib?

Ayatollah:Sistani

Answer: The condition for janabat is either:

1) intercourse or
2) getting an orgasm along with secretion of discharge.
Question:Ghusl janabat ya koi bhi aur ghusl tartibi lena shower se jayaz hai? Directly stand below shower and wet the body in three parts?

Ayatollah:Sistani

Answer: You can do ghusl under the shower however Ayatullah Sistani says first wash the head and neck and then the body. If you stand under the shower and make no movement, it is not correct. As per Ayatullah Sistani, it is ihtiyat wajib (obligatory precaution) to make some movement to make it clear that you are now for example washing the body.
