Question:I need serious advice on what happens when you overdue it with ethical training. Here’s is an exerpt from Imam Khomeini’s book that explains what happened to me

If the young people do not treat themselves considerately and kindly, and if they do not meet the needs of (their) nature through lawful ways, they will be subject to a great danger, which cannot be compensated. The danger is that when one is too severe with his self and pulls the reins too hard, they will break off, and then the will gets out of control, and the accumulated natural needs and the sharp fires of desire, under unlimited pressure of austerity, burn out the whole kingdom.
If a sālik's reins break off God forbid! Or an ascetic person becomes unable to control himself, he will fall so deep in a precipice that he can never see the face of rescue, nor can he ever return to the road of happiness and righteousness.

Ayatollah:Khomeini

Answer: Wth istighfar and seeking nearness to God everything can be compensated. You just have to keep trying and not give up.
Question:I have read a few narrations/descriptions of how the Prophet (sawa) and the Imams of Ahlul Bayt (as) used to wear their hair. In some narrations I would see that their hair would be long, either up to the ends of their ear lobes or to their shoulders, and in some they would have a shaven head. I’m not sure as to which one is accurate, perhaps they could have done both during their lifetimes.

I want to follow the Sunnah as best as possible, so I ask what would be the recommended/mustahab length for hair for a male? My hair now goes past my ears and I would be willing to cut it if there’s a chance it will bring me closer to Allah SWT.

Ayatollah:Sistani

Answer: In the past it was the norm to grow hair longer. The prophet and Imams did also have that however they maintained it clean and tidy. When they perform the hajj they would shave it all off as it is Wajib for first timers and highly recommended for pilgrims after the first time.

There are certain things that were performed in the past because they were socially acceptable for men. Today they may give off a different impression. For example the long hair or the eye kohl which men used to practice. Today this may be regarded as imitating women. If that is the case then it becomes haraam and unacceptable. If the intention is purely to follow the Sunna of the prophet and there is no attempt to look like or imitate individuals whose values are against Islam then it is okay.
Question:I have just started trying to recite ziyarat ashura regularly, but I find its to long, and my reading in arabic isn't great so it takes me a long time to get through the whole ziyaret. It especially takes long to recite the laan and salams 100 times each. I was wondering is there an easier/quicker way to recite the ziyarat at the start, when trying to learn it?

Ayatollah:Sistani

Answer: There is a shorter ziyarat. You can read that one and you can find it in the books of dua. It’s called Ziyara Ashura the shorter version. Also you do not have to recite all 100 salaams and La3n if you didn’t have time. Do what you can
Question:Something I’ve been contemplating a lot recently under the circumstances is riba and student loans. I am very passionate about economics and going to university

Ayatollah:N/A

Answer: Riba is forbidden however there are ways to make the transactions by avoiding the haraam riba. There are ways to make it halal.

A) If you are taking a loan from the bank because you don’t have money for education or to buy a house there is no problem if it’s not from a Muslim owned bank.

You can consider the money you take as a gift given to you and the interest you pay is the transaction fee.

B) Or you can consider the money you take yours as it is given to you by a non-Muslim. Then in order to keep the house or whatever you are getting with the money you have to pay the mortgage.

C) You can also consider the money you are receiving as money going directly to the house. If you buy a house they don’t give you the money. They give it to the house seller. Then you just make payments to the bank as if you are a renter. Then you just make payments to the bank as if you are a renter.
Question:I wanted to ask you, if you could give me advice or teach me how to untie knots in the heart, and how to purify the heart from everything.

Ayatollah:Khamenei

Answer: Do istighfar as much as you can. Pray salaat alayl.
Question:If someone gets jealous from something for like 1sec then he does istighfar, but this person didn’t act on his jealousy too. Like he didn’t do anything, but it happened between himself.

Does it count as a sin if you don’t act on it?

Ayatollah:Khamenei

Answer: No it not a sin unless someone acts upon it.
Question:I know this maybe a dumb question, but in this verse (19:26), it says:

"So eat and drink and refresh your eye; and if you meet any mortal, say: 'Verily I have vowed a fast to the Beneficent (God), so never shall I speak today with any human being'.

I read the tafsir, and it said that, Prophet Jesus (PBUH) spoke and defended her chastity. But if she's doing a silence fast, why does this verse say that if she meets a mortal she'll say that she's fasting. I know that Prophet Jesus (PBUH) talked and Lady Mariam (PBUH) didn’t but my question is why this verse says so.

Ayatollah:Khamenei

Answer: She signaled to them that she is fasting through hand gestures. This was a common fast that was done before Islam. Zakariya also did it after God informed him he will have a child.
Question:Imam Amir-ul-Mu’mineen Ali [a] said

If a person calls another Sinner, Indecent, Kafir, Munafiq, or Donkey, he must be given thirty nine lashes.

Greater sins Vol 1, part 3, page 252; Mustadrakul Wasael.

Is this Hadith Sahih?

If one can’t remember how many times he called someone these terms how many lashes should he take?

Ayatollah:Khamenei

Answer: The lashes are not up to people to decide. Whether this hadith is sahih or not, this applies to the Islamic jurist. It does not apply to normal people. Even if someone knows they said something like that, they should not try to apply this hadith to their lives. They can just say istighfar and not do it again.
Question:I wanted to ask you, I know how to prove The Prophet (PBUH) was sinless, but how do I proof he doesn’t forget, and he doesn’t do mistakes like we do, how do I prove his ultimate perfection?

Ayatollah:Khamenei

Answer: We have two proofs.

1) One is through hadith, which there are several from the imams of Ahlulbayt.

2) There is also a logical argument which is if the prophet forgets then he would forget the Quran or other things. It would not make sense for God who is perfect to send someone who either sins or forgets and makes mistakes. If a teacher forgets and makes mistakes several times the students will also make mistakes.
